Building Energy Modeling Analyst Role
The Building Energy Modeling Analyst will join the dynamic team at RDE; using building energy simulation tools to help commercial tenants and building owners understand how they use energy and what they can do to use less. The position will require both technical analytical work and client contact in performing all aspects of building energy modeling.
Engineer Tasks:
•Undertake building energy modeling in accordance with the requirements of applicable codes and standards (including: ASHRAE 90.1, LEED v4/v4.1/v5, NYCECC and COMNET)
•Examine both field conditions and design documents; representing relevant details appropriately in building energy modeling analysis.
•Undertake life-cycle cost analysis of energy saving measures related to: lighting, HVAC, building fabric, plug loads, operational parameters, end-user behavior, and other areas.
•Work in close contact with the entire design team, communicating well with both technical and non-technical people.
•Prepare clear, concise and informative reports, making use of data visualization to help communicate key information.
•The Energy Modeling Analyst may also assist with energy auditing, carbon footprint reporting, marketing and/or engineering design tasks as required.
Qualifications:
•BS in Energy Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physical Sciences, or a related field; with a good understanding of both building physics and mechanical systems.
•MS or MA in a field related to sustainability, energy management or high-performance buildings is required unless candidate has other demonstrable experience in these areas (such as from: internships, school projects, courses, or volunteering).
•Good working knowledge of energy modeling software, such as eQUEST, Energy Plus, or IES , and of the ASHRAE 90.1, LEED v4/v4.1/v5, IECC, and NYCECC standards.
•Good communication skills, both written and personal.
•Ability to work autonomously and manage own time; delivering projects on time and to a high standard.
•1 - 2 years of building energy modeling experience and/or certification as a Building Energy Modeling Professional (BEMP), Energy Manager in Training (EMIT) or LEED Green Associate (LEED GA) is desirable but not required.
•Knowledge/experience of energy efficiency in existing commercial buildings, heating ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems, clean and renewable energy technologies, greenhouse gas reporting standards, and of end user behavior and change management within organizations is desirable but not required.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
