Primary Responsibilities and Key Deliverables
•Operate and navigate industrial boats and vessels safely and efficiently in various water conditions.
•Conduct pre-operational checks and routine maintenance on boats to ensure they are in good working condition.
•Transport personnel, equipment, and materials to and from designated locations.
•Monitor and report any mechanical issues or safety hazards to the maintenance team.
•Ensure compliance with all maritime laws, regulations, and company policies.
•Assist in loading and unloading cargo, ensuring proper handling and storage.
•Maintain accurate logs of boat operations, fuel usage, and maintenance activities.
•Coordinate with other team members and departments to ensure timely and efficient operations.
•Respond to emergency situations and perform rescue operations if necessary.
•Participate in safety drills and training sessions to stay updated on best practices and emergency
Required Skills and Competencies
•Proficient in boat operation and navigation, with a strong understanding of maritime safety protocols.
•Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick decisions in high-pressure situations.
•Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with team members and report issues.
•Physical stamina and strength to handle the demands of the job, including lifting and moving heavy objects.
•Attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records and logs.
•Knowledge of basic mechanical and maintenance procedures for boats.
•Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced industrial environment.
•Familiarity with GPS and other navigation systems.
Minimum Education and Experience
•High school diploma or equivalent.
•Valid boat operator's license or certification.
•Minimum of 2 years of experience operating boats in an industrial or commercial setting.
•First Aid and CPR certification preferred.
•Experience with industrial equipment and cargo handling is a plus.
Work Environment
•Tools, equipment, machinery used: Hydroblasting, Vacuum Truck, and Tank cleaning equipment.
•Working conditions: Will be exposed to all weather conditions. Work on various structures and surfaces both at ground and elevated levels up to and possibly exceeding 150 ft. Work in confined spaces. Work a 12-hour shift with 30-minute lunch breaks. If requested, work overtime, and respond to emergency callouts whenever they occur. Work days, nights, and weekends. Travel to customer and other Miller sites as needed.
•Physical effort required: Handling tools, materials, and equipment weighing up to 150 lbs. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Must be able to sit, stand, walk, crawl, bend, squat, and kneel. Must be capable of climbing towers/vessels/tanks.
