As a Blaster/Powderman, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient loading of blast holes, including handling explosives and initiating blasts. Your duties will also include maintaining accurate inventory, filling out reports, and ensuring the overall safety and cleanliness of the work environment. This position requires a high level of expertise and a strong commitment to safety protocols.
Qualifications
*Must be registered as a “Blaster” in the State of Tennessee
*Must be able to read and write
*Must have a minimum of 1 year of underground mining experience
*Must have a minimum of 6 months explosives experience
*Must be competent to evaluate ground safety conditions
*Must be able to operate powder truck
Working Conditions
*Must be able to walk over rough terrain, stoop, reach, climb, kneel, and carry up to 60 pounds.
*Position includes work in underground mine involving low light, diesel emissions, dust, noise, and humidity
*Positions includes work outdoors involving temperature extremes, dust, noise, and humidity
*Regular attendance is required. Overtime may be required as determined by management
Duties and Responsibilities
*Efficiently and safely load blast holes, including handling and placing of explosives, delaying the detonators, stemming the holes, and initiating the blast.
*Responsible for checking misfires.
*Maintain accurate explosives inventory.
*Properly and promptly fill out blasting reports and records.
*Maintain housekeeping around magazines.
* Move pumps as required before blasting.
*Responsible for equipment condition, appearance and cleanliness
*Perform equipment safety checks, write work orders, and fill out production reports
*Communicate problem areas to management and co-workers.
* Light maintenance to equipment
*Other duties as assigned by management
