General Purpose
Under general supervision, operates bio-solids truck and related dewatering equipment to transfer bio-solids (sludge and cake) to and from treatment plant facilities and to the Georgetown County Landfill facility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The following essential duties and responsibilities are required at all Pay Grade levels
•Operates bio-solids trucks, tankers, dump trailers, and related equipment for the purpose of hauling bio-solids (sludge or dried cake) from any of the District's wastewater or water treatment plants to the designated area.
•Operates dewatering equipment.
•Maintains records and logs as required.
•Loads, unloads, and maneuvers a variety of materials and equipment such as bio-solids, grit, and dewatered screenings as required.
•Drives vehicles and equipment with both standard and automatic transmissions to a variety of work sites.
•Assists with other tasks at the wastewater facility as needed, including general maintenance or site support.
•Reads and applies instructions and labels for product and equipment operation.
•Utilizes appropriate safety equipment and procedures.
•Responsible for safety checks on the equipment used, and reports needed repairs.
•Performs minor repairs and preventive maintenance on equipment used for the bio-solids program.
•Performs related duties as required.
•Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
The following other duties and responsibilities are required of Bio-Solid Haulers at all Pay Grade Levels
•Performs routine maintenance and custodial duties.
•Performs general cleaning and painting.
•Responds to after-hours emergencies when needed.
•Works all shifts and occasional overtime when necessary.
•May perform portions of the work of higher classified positions, occasionally, as assigned.
•Serves on various employee or other committees, as assigned.
•Performs related duties as assigned.
Desired Education and Experience
Bio-Solid Hauler I Pay Grade 4
•High school diploma or equivalent.
•1 year of experience in the operation of tractor-trailer/tanker/dump trucks
•Valid SC Driver’s License required. SC CDL “A” with tanker endorsement
Bio-Solid Hauler II Pay Grade 5
•High school diploma or equivalent.
•2 years related work experience in the operation of tractor-trailer/tanker/dump trucks
•Valid SC Driver’s License required. SC CDL “A” with tanker endorsement
•Confined Space Attendant, Entry and Rescue Certifications
Bio-Solid Hauler III Pay Grade 6
•High school diploma or equivalent.
•5 years related work experience in the operation of tractor-trailer/tanker/dump trucks and/or water and wastewater dewatering systems
•Valid SC Driver’s License required. SC CDL “A” with tanker and Haz Mat endorsements
•Confined Space Attendant, Entry and Rescue Certifications
•South Carolina “D” Biological Wastewater Treatment license
