Under the direction of the Fabrication Manager, the Bender Set-Up Operator is responsible for performing the duties described below to ensure the achievement of production objectives consistent with company quality standards and customer delivery requirements. The Bender Set-Up Operator will act in a manner that is consistent with Gordon Aluminum’s Customer 1st Philosophy.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. High school diploma or equivalent. Requires a minimum of 90 days of on-the-job training. Requires the ability to effectively operate bending and forming equipment, along with basic computer skills and a variety of small hand tools. Must be able to use calipers and micrometers. Requires a general knowledge of company products and procedures.
Ability to add, subtract, divide and multiply. Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications. Must be proficient in reading a tape measure and attain a 90% passing rate on a measurement test.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and short correspondence. Ability to write standard documentation. Ability to interpret blueprints and customer specifications. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, customers, and other employees of the organization. Must be able to pass a blueprint and caliper test by the 50th working day from the date of hire.
Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out detailed written and oral instructions. Must have the ability to troubleshoot: determine causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.
Physical Demands refers to the level and/or duration of physical exertion generally required to perform occupational takes (sitting, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, pushing and pulling).
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and regularly required to use hands to handle or touch objects or controls; Regularly perform repetitive motion of fingers, hands, wrists, shoulders and upper body; regularly required to reach with hands and arms; frequently required to hear and talk. Close vision and inspection of work is required.
The employee must frequently lift or carry up to 10 pounds, regularly lift or carry up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift or carry up to 80 pounds; regularly push up to 75 pounds

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
Employee is expected to wear the required personal protective equipment when on the production floor.
Due to the skill level required in this position, good attendance is expected in order to effectively meet customer demands.
