A bay area startup is seeking a Battery Technician to contribute to the design and optimization of lithium-ion batteries. The Battery Technician will work on battery materials preparation, and battery cell fabrication. Qualified applicants will have prior hands-on experience in the laboratory environments or industrial working experience. The person for this position must have a positive attitude and does what it takes to get the job done. This position features an opportunity for upward mobility. - Prepare battery materials from material drying, slurry mixing, slurry coating, and battery fabrication.
- A working understanding of relationship between viscosity and density of fluid, battery cell mechanical design, and chemistry basics
- A working knowledge related to the construction of Li-ion pouch-cells is a plus.
- Coordinate with senior scientist on battery testing including impedance measurement, cycle life, swelling and failure modes.
- Validate and analyze lithium-ion cell components, assemblies, and specifications.
- Evaluate the latest battery components, analyze their performance, and identify degradation mechanisms
- Prepare timely, high-quality internal reports.
- 0-2 years of work experience in a lab setting required
- B.S. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Science.
- Deep understanding of material-property relationship
- Hands-on knowledge of battery and/or other electrochemical energy devices testing and design is a plus.
