Position Summary: The Ballast Control Operator (BCO) is responsible for monitoring and maintaining the stability of the vessel or offshore structure through proper operation of the ballast system. This role ensures hydrodynamic stability by controlling ballast tanks, compensating for weather conditions, operational loads, and structural movement to maintain a safe and balanced working platform offshore.
Key Responsibilities: include the following (Other duties may be assigned):
- Operate and monitor ballast systems to maintain vessel stability and draft within operational and regulatory limits.
- Perform regular checks of ballast tank levels, pump operations, valves, and associated systems.
- Monitor weather and sea conditions and adjust ballast operations as needed for vessel safety.
- Communicate with marine and offshore teams to coordinate ballast operations with deck loads, crane activities, and tank usage.
- Maintain detailed logs of ballast operations, system checks, and any adjustments made.
- Respond promptly to stability-related alarms and support emergency ballast operations if required.
- Assist in planning and executing ballast operations during rig moves, towing, or other marine transitions.
- Conduct or assist in inspections and routine maintenance of ballast control equipment.
- Ensure all ballast-related activities are in compliance with safety procedures, environmental regulations, and company policies
- Support safety drills and participate in emergency response as directed by the station bill.

- Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office setting.
- Physical Demands: This role requires the ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer. Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 20 pounds.
