Auto Shop Technician – Opelika, AL
Inframark is hiring! We are seeking a skilled Auto Shop Technician to join our municipal equipment maintenance team in Opelika, AL. This position plays a crucial support role in our shop, working on a diverse range of equipment from small tools to large garbage trucks. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automotive repair and maintenance, with the ability to diagnose and fix issues efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform routine maintenance and repairs on municipal equipment, including small tools, vehicles, and large garbage trucks.
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and software.
Conduct inspections to ensure equipment is in safe and operational condition.
Replace or repair defective parts, components, and systems.
Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance, and inspections.
Collaborate with other technicians and shop staff to ensure timely completion of tasks.
Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
Assist in ordering and inventory management of parts and supplies.
Provide support in emergency repair situations as needed.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in automotive repair preferred.
Minimum of 1 year of experience in automotive repair, preferably with municipal or heavy equipment.
Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and software.
Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Valid driver's license; CDL preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and move heavy equipment and parts.
Comfortable working in various weather conditions.
Ability to stand, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
