POSITION BACKGROUND:

The Journeyman Automotive Mechanic is responsible for performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues, and repair to ensure that the Ketek light-duty vehicle fleet is performing optimally.

CORE DUTIES:

•

Effectively manage, schedule and prioritize maintenance work orders and apprentices

•

Rebuild and make repairs to service trucks, mine trucks, and fuel trucks

•

Plan, inspect, service, maintain, diagnose, troubleshoot, dismantle, and replace unit assemblies or parts

•

Communicate with supervisors and other divisions on methods, procedures, standards, and hazards

•

Exercise judgment in the selection of materials and tools as well as methods so that the job is performed in accordance with accepted manufacturers specifications and safety standards

•

Trouble-shoot, plan, and perform work requiring a strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, low voltage direct current, electronic and pneumatic principles, trade techniques, properties of various materials, and operating and application principles of equipment

•

Follow specifications on complex equipment diagrams, parts drawings and catalogues

•

Repair and rebuild engines, hydraulic and electric systems of diesel/gasoline, electric, propane and pneumatic powered equipment

•

Use precision testing equipment to determine source and cause of fault and to perform close tolerance adjustment

•

Test and operate repaired equipment as required

•

Make field repairs as required to bring equipment back on-line

•

Keep tools and equipment in clean and orderly condition

•

Complete required paperwork

•

Successfully complete safety training as required on an ongoing basis

•

Observe all safety procedures and use proper Personal Protective Equipment

•

Ensure all Ketek work procedures, policies and Occupational Health and Safety regulations are followed

•

Be considerate of the needs of our community and the environment

•

Perform other related duties as required

•

Represent Ketek in a light that is commensurate with the values of the Corporate Vision and Mission Statements

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

Required

•

Journeyman Automotive Mechanic certificate

•

Fluent in the English language (reading, written, spoken)

•

Valid Driver’s License with Driver’s Abstract

•

Ability to handle multiple tasks and frequent demanding deadlines

•

Ability to handle changing schedules and priorities, with high level prioritization skills

•

Strong work ethic and organizational planning skills with attention to detail

•

Ability to work independently or as part of a team

•

Effective verbal and listening communication skills

•

Ability to interact with the public in a positive, courteous, and respectful manner

Preferred

•

Red Seal Certification

•

Software exposure to Mitchell and ProDemand

This position is defined as Safety Sensitive: Drug, Alcohol, Back, and Audio, tests are required prior to commencing employment.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work Environment

•

Shop environment (80-90%), Field environment (10-20%)

•

May be required to work weekends and outside of regular office hours

•

May be required to work outside in all different weather conditions including extreme cold and heat
