Rogers Group is currently seeking a motivated
Automation & Controls Engineerto join our team in the aggregate mining industry. In this role, you will play a vital part on our electrical team supporting the controls, automation, and technology of aggregate and asphalt plants throughout Rogers Group. This position will report directly to the Manager of Electrical Services and will be based out of Nashville, TN. The successful candidate for this role will have an uncompromising focus on safety excellence.
Design, programming, development and maintenance of automation systems related to the aggregate and mineral processing industry. The person who accepts this assignment will be responsible for meeting the challenge of growth-oriented assignments and interacting with a wide range of people ranging from company executives to external agencies, and contractors. Understand the process flow and design of production facilities related to the aggregate and mineral processing industries. Understand underground mining principles and equipment. Write PLC programs on multiple platforms including Siemens and Allen Bradley. Interface and develop Ignition HMI control systems and data reporting dashboards. Install, troubleshoot and perform maintenance on control systems with a working knowledge of control wiring.
Key Responsibilities
- Learn and integrate the company's safety culture, aggregate mining processes, and production facility operations.
- PLC programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance along with HMI integration.
- Develop control logic, detailed drawings, and documentation for new and existing systems.
- Interface with Ignition and Canary automation and data historian software.
- Provide detailed drawings of control systems and logic.
- Assist in the coordination of outside electrical and controls services.
- Scheduling work to meet completion dates, technical specifications, functional requirements, and budget constraints.
- Maintain and update accurate program database.
- Debug and troubleshoot field automation issues.
- 10% domestic travel for plant visits and program troubleshooting and startup.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
- Bachelor's degree in appropriate technical field; degreed Electrical/Controls Engineer preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of related engineering and programming experience required.
- Aggregate industry experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of process flows and interlocking in processing plants or related field required.
- Programming experience with Ignition, Canary, Siemens and Allen Bradly automation software.
- Working knowledge of underground mining practices and equipment.
- Working knowledge of MS Windows systems (Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint).
- Ability to analyze production processes and identify enhancements that eliminate bottlenecks and increase efficiency.
