The Associate General Counsel will provide comprehensive legal support to our electrical distribution company, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations across multiple states. This role involves advising senior management; drafting and negotiating contracts, leases and loan documents; offering advice on employment law issues; managing litigation; and overseeing regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate must be admitted to the New Jersey Bar and have extensive experience in commercial transactions and corporate law.
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. Admission to the New Jersey Bar. Minimum of 8 years of private law practice and/or corporate in-house legal experience, with emphasis on commercial transactions, corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, commercial leasing, financing transactions, and employment law. Strong understanding of regulatory compliance matters. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proven leadership and managerial capabilities. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Experience in advising senior management and board members. Proficiency in legal research tools. Strategic thinking with strong problem-solving skills.
Experience in the electrical distribution industry or a related field. Familiarity with multistate regulatory environments. Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills. Self-starter with the ability to work independently with little oversight. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Some knowledge of litigation practice.
