This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with local, state and federal environmental regulations, plans ,policies and procedures associated with geothermal operations, permitting, construction and maintenance support.
- Maintain Environmental Compliance Management System, coordinates the preparation of regulatory compliance inspections records.
- Maintain compliance with environmental programs such as Hazardous Material Business Plan, Spill Prevention Control Countermeasure and support Hazardous Waste Management.
- Assist with preparation of all regulatory reports (e.g; Potable water quality, Waste discharge requirements, Air reports, all regulatory monthly, quarterly and annual reports etc;) Lead, coordinate, and report on environmental inspection of facilities.
- Maintain CalEnergy environmental permits, licenses, plans and procedures.
- Support administrative activities necessary for effective management of the environmental department such as processing invoice, regulatory fees, and budget reports.
- Develops and maintains necessary documentation related to environmental compliance training modules.
- Research governmental and industry standards for compliance. Assists plant operation with preparation of regualory reports for the California Energy Commission (CEC).
- A bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering or other related natural resource field or equivalent and zero-two years of environmental experience. (Typically six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.)
- Basic knowledge of environmental practices and standards.
- Power plant knowledge and experience Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, e-mail, presentation, and database computer applications.
- Basic math and writing skills, including spelling and grammar.
- Ability to analyze and judge reports and records.
- Effective oral and written communication skills and ability to negotiate.
- Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good organization skills.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to remote locations.
