The Assistant Supervisor must effectively coordinate processes and employees to ensure the product is being received, stored, processed, and shipped in the safest, quality oriented, cost effective, and efficient manner. This will be achieved through motivating, communicating, and monitoring employees and processes.
- Communicate to the staff on areas concerning Safety, Quality, policies and procedures, and Productivity.
- Provide input on employee’s abilities and utilize their strengths to increase productivity and efficiency. This includes meeting the production goals set forth by management.
- Must ensure their employees are competent to perform their position and to assist employees who need improvement by providing training requirements to Supervisor.
- Maintain accountability within team according to the policies and procedures set forth by the company. This may include verbal coaching.
- Promote teamwork throughout the shift including working with other Assistant Supervisors and employees in all shifts.
- Must be knowledgeable in overall plant processes. Will be required to fill in during absences.
- Work balance- 30% Supervisory/leadership time & 70% Production/hands on working.
- Will fill in during Supervisor’s absence.
- Reinforce the importance in meeting the expectations of the customer and the goals of the company in quality during employee training.
- Ensure employees are meeting/striving to reduce errors as per the company’s goals and objectives.
- Assist in reviewing errors and assist in developing programs to reduce errors.
- Works with Supervisor to review and analyze processes and make recommendations to processes that need improvement.
- Ensure all employees are following all safety and/or company rules and regulations
- The Assistant Supervisor must demonstrate the importance of safety by leading and modeling employees toward safe behaviors.
- The Assistant Supervisor may be required to fill out the proper paperwork after an accident and/or near miss.
- Will periodically provide Safety startup topics to team in standup meetings.
- Computer Skills: The Assistant Supervisor shall possess above average computer skills in order to use the company’s computer programs and be able to mentor others on their use.
- Experience: Should have 3-5 years manufacturing experience.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills including root cause analysis.
- Leadership & employee development- abilities to lead/develop employees through mentoring and coaching processes
