Reporting to the Superintendent, Engineering, you will be part of the Engineering Department. You will play an important role in the management of the engineering production team by providing the mine operations high quality technical services, to achieve the divisions' objectives. You will also play an important role in bridging between the open pit and underground operations in terms of practices within the Engineering Department (such as reporting, planning, drill and blast improvements, etc.). You will also ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved, while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and the environment.
- Manage the engineering production team, directing workflow and planning for the different workforce needs while ensuring proper levels of efficiency and productivity;
- Ensure coordination between Open Pit and Underground Engineering groups in terms of reporting, planning, millfeed forecasts, stockpile management, follow-ups and other shared activities;
- Coordinate and review optimal mine planning activities, as well as approving month-end reporting exercises;
- Review design exercises, optimize ore recovery with Mine Operations and Geology departments and participate to the different operational performance improvement initiatives;
- Assist in the preparation and/or validation of the daily, weekly and monthly reports;
- Oversee & maintain the different internal performance tracking tools, such as compliance to procedures, trainings, departmental onboardings, yearly objectives, etc…
- Participate in the recruitment process with candidates for the Engineering Department when necessary;
- Assess, organize and approve the required departmental trainings and procedure compliances;
- Keep the department at the forefront of new technologies, following the best practices of the mining industry;
- Mentor the other members of the engineering team and replace the Engineering Superintendent when required;
- Respect and promote the standards of the company and the governmental policies and regulations at play.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mining or Geological Engineering;
- 10 years of experience in underground and open pit mining operations;
- Supervisory experience and strong leadership capabilities;
- Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Visio, Word, PowerPoint & Teams;
Note that the official working language at Meliadine is English.
Your Work Schedule:
- Schedule: 4/3 (Monday to Thursday at our Meliadine Mine) with the occasional 7/7 rotation;
- Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
