Apprentice Water Distribution & Wastewater Collections Operator I

Easton Utilities is currently seeking an Apprentice Water Distribution & Wastewater Collections Operator I for the Water and Wastewater Department.

HIRING RANGE: $21/hr. or higher depending upon experience

JOB OBJECTIVE: Performs operation, construction and maintenance tasks on the water distribution system and wastewater collection system in order to provide superior quality water and wastewater services to the customer. This is a full-time, non-exempt position with on-call requirements.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

•

Knowledge and experience with underground utilities or plumbing is helpful.

•

Knowledge and experience with operating heavy equipment is helpful.

•

Must have good verbal communication skills and ability to work well with the public.

•

Must currently possess or obtain the Water Distribution Certification within 18 months of employment and must obtain the Wastewater Collection Certification within 30 months of employment.

•

Must have a valid MD Class A CDL or the ability to obtain one within twelve months of hire date.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Must have high school diploma or equivalent.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

•

Job involves entering and working in permit required confined spaces, driving, operation of heavy equipment, lifting, bending, climbing, and digging in all weather conditions.

•

Must be able to pass DOT physical.

•

Must have sufficient pulmonary function to wear self-contained breathing apparatus.

•

Must wear proper PPE at all times.
