The Analyst, Process/Technology Improvement is responsible for supporting staff and fostering an innovative environment by developing and implementing process and technology enhancements. This role involves proactively investigating, understanding, and articulating business issues, processes, and industry opportunities to recommend solutions for Asset Strategy & Operations. It requires a strong blend of technological expertise and interpersonal skills, along with an innovative approach to challenge established practices, tools, and culture.

Key Responsibilities
Process Improvement and Strategy
- Research, recommend, and implement new or enhanced policies, procedures, and processes to improve the effectiveness of Asset Strategy & Operations.
- Lead and assist departmental process change initiatives, including the development and facilitation of workshops focused on process improvements and discovery.
- Proactively research and analyze revisions to legislation, regulations, and standards to ensure compliance within the department.
- Represent the department as a subject matter expert for the ERP System (JD Edwards), focusing on efficient workflows, processes, and system enhancements in areas like Work Management, Project Estimation, and BOM/Labour Configurations.
- Collaborate with systems stakeholders to ensure seamless and optimized business processes and software continuity.
- Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports to support data-driven decision-making.
- Leverage and analyze data from multiple sources to provide practical data solutions to end users.
- Perform user requirements data gathering and develop asset management reports (e.g., inspection/maintenance program, overhead & underground rebuilds).
- Provide front-line technical support to Asset Strategy & Operations staff for engineering systems, software, tools, and processes.
- Ensure compliance with legislative, regulatory, and Health & Safety policies, procedures, and standards.
- Identify and facilitate business process improvement opportunities to enhance organizational effectiveness.
- Liaise with internal and external contacts, including software vendors and integration consultants.
- Develop and maintain user-friendly SharePoint sites, trackers, and lists to support project monitoring and reporting for Distribution Design initiatives.
- Conduct research on existing and emerging technologies to enhance organizational effectiveness.
- Provide technical expertise in the planning, design, and implementation of projects and key initiatives.
- Occasionally travel between Alectra locations as required.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned to support operational objectives

Who you are
Education & Specialized Knowledge
- Community College diploma or University degree with a focus on Engineering, Sciences, Information Technology or Mathematics
- Eligible for, or Current membership in the OACETT as an Electrical Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) in good standing would be considered an asset
- Knowledge of electrical utility distribution design, electrical theory, and familiarity with power system operations, practices, and installation standards an asset
- Familiar with CSA 22.3 Overhead and Underground Standards, DSC as well as ESA Regulation 22/04
- Knowledge of AutoCAD, GIS Applications, SPIDACalc, FME, CYME, JD Edwards, Oracle C&B, PLS Pole, Pull Planner, Designer, OHDA a definite asset
- Knowledge of relational database concepts and coding (HTML, VBA, SQL) an asset
- Knowledge of continuous process improvement, change management and project management methodologies an asset
- Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining Power BI dashboards and reports, with the ability to translate complex data sets into actionable insights; familiarity with KPIs and project tracking tools
- Experience with SharePoint site maintenance and the development of custom lists and trackers to support Distribution Design workflows would be considered an asset
- Proficiency with MS Office, emphasis on MS Excel, and SharePoint applications
- Minimum 3 years related work experience in the electrical utility industry
- Preferred 5 years’ experience developing, documenting, implementing, and optimizing business processes and business systems solutions or similar role
- Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Structural Analysis, Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software
- Experience in a unionized utility environment an asset
- Solid problem-solving and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail and the ability to provide practical and/or innovative solutions to complex technical issues
- Excellent written and presentation skills, with the ability to explain technical information in an organized and concise way
- Ability to plan, prioritize and execute multiple projects and initiatives within established timelines
- Ability to build and maintain collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to upskill rapidly and grasp new concepts and assignments quickly without oversight
- Ability to work remotely and independently establish personal daily work priorities and scheduling
- Strong ability to lead change and engage, develop and motivate teams
- Must hold and maintain a valid class “G” driver’s license
- Hybrid: This role is based in a hybrid environment, allowing for a mix of remote and in-office work to support team collaboration and business needs.
