The Financial Analyst 2-4, Financial Forecasting helps support the Company’s financial forecast and outlook including the development of the monthly forecasting processes, performing forward looking financial analysis to include development of proforma financial statements and ad hoc financial impact modeling of potential business decisions that influence the current fiscal year. This position will support the Company’s proprietary cash flow model and help craft various presentations. In addition, support of the Corporate Finance & Long-Range Planning as needed is critical for this role. This position reports directly to the Manager of Financial Forecasting

Tasks And Responsibilities

- Supports the development and maturity (technical and strategic) of the financial model and forecasting capabilities (regression, time series, rolling forecasting, break-even, rate of return, payback period etc.) used to support and drive the monthly reforecast/latest estimates process, budget process, target setting, and metrics evaluation. Assists on daily and monthly activities related to cash flow model and/or new technology, learns and executes on changes requested from FS Leaderships, and drafts procedures around recurring processes. Supports the preparation of financial slides and other materials that are presented to the CEO Direct Reports, the Board of Trustees, and City of San Antonio staff. Supports the production of the Sales Package, Model Rollover, and other City Reports. Provides analytical support on key trends and drivers behind the monthly and quarterly financials. Assesses current and future business risk and communicates recommendations on outlook changes to management. Supports analytics, initiatives and ad hoc projects as needed from the Corporate Finance & Long-Range Planning Collaborates with other areas including Strategic Pricing, Debt Management, BAMR, Demand Side, Supply Side and Commercial Analytics teams to understand key financial drivers impacting the fiscal year. Organize FP&A server to facilitate document and data retrieval. Serves as a trusted advisor and liaison to the business unit budget teams and leadership. Create and maintain procedures and internal control documents. Performs other duties and serves on special project teams as assigned.

Minimum Skills Minimum Knowledge and Abilities

Accountant/analyst experience in a field supporting and providing technical and analytical solutions.

Knowledge of accounting/analyst experience in a field supporting and providing financial and operational solutions.

Relative experiences in financial/project management for Operational Units.

Understands processes and procedures in specialized field.

Initiative to work independently or as a member of a team, coordinating with others to achieve desired results.

Well-developed written and verbal communication skills for interaction with all levels of personnel.

Ability to meet goals and objectives with minimal direct supervision.

Effective interpersonal and customer service skills.

Ability to make recommendations and independent decisions.

High level of accuracy of work and attention to detail.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Ability to work in a variety of locations such as the field, construction centers and the main office.

Ability to identify alternative solutions for development of decision-making proposals, which support organizational goals/objectives and budget constraints

Proficient in Microsoft Office Package, including word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentation software, electronic mail and scheduling.

Preferred Qualifications

- MBA with a concentration in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field.

- CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst), CMA (Certified Management Accountant), FP&A certification or comparable professional designation.

- Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning solutions (e.g., SAP, BPC, PeopleSoft, or Hyperion).

- Experience with the electric or gas utility industry gained through experience at an electric / gas utility, consulting agency, or other professional service provider serving the industry.

- Experience building three-statement financial model.

- Experience with modeling and simulation, data mining, general data analytics.

- Experience with Data Visualization software and techniques (e.g., Tableau).

- Intermediate level experience with Project Management.

Minimum Education

Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with concentration in Finance, Accounting, Auditing or related field from an accredited university.

Required Certifications Working Environment

Indoor work, operating computer, manual dexterity, talking, hearing, repetitive motion. Use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer and calculator.

Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions or other business related events.

Physical Demands

Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
