ANALYST, FINANCIAL PLANNING & ANALYSIS – CALGARY (CAT)
The Analyst, Financial Planning & Analysis provides key financial and strategic support to our Executive Team and Senior Leadership across the organization. The role supports the team responsible for driving financial clarity and business insight through forecasting, budgeting, performance reporting, and strategic analysis. Core responsibilities include supporting bidding and estimating activities, evaluating corporate strategies (including M&A transactions), monitoring industry trends, and conducting in-depth financial modeling to guide high-impact decisions.
Responsibilities:
•Ensure that Trican's core value, "Safe equipment and operations" is the priority in all activities
•Develop a deep understanding of business operations, key performance indicators (KPIs), profitability drivers, and the competitive landscape
•Partner with the sales team to deliver pricing analysis and profitability projections across jobs, projects, and customer segments
•Produce detailed customer profitability analyses to assess performance and highlight trends
•Act as a finance business partner to divisional leaders by translating financial data into actionable insights
•Prepare and present monthly financial reports, generate variance analysis, and provide commentary on financial and operational performance
•Lead the development of divisional capital and operating budgets and rolling forecasts aligned with corporate planning cycles
•Develop and maintain annual budgets and multi-year financial forecasts at the corporate level
•Perform scenario modeling and sensitivity analyses to evaluate the impact of policy changes, industry trends, and macroeconomic shifts
•Deliver insights on industry benchmarks and economic drivers affecting the business
•Support corporate strategy development including M&A evaluation, investment analysis, and growth planning
•Prepare executive reporting materials for the Board of Directors
•Maintain consistent communication with internal stakeholders to stay informed of operational and economic changes impacting performance
Experience & Skills:
•Post-secondary Degree in Finance or Accounting preferred; equivalent programs considered
•Experience and practical knowledge of the oil and gas and/or energy services sector is an asset
•Advanced financial modeling skills with a high degree of proficiency in Microsoft Excel
•Experience with Microsoft Power BI or similar analytics tools is an asset
•Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy
•Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative and professional communication style, both written and verbal
•Proven problem-solving abilities in complex situations
•Adaptable, able to manage shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment
•Self-motivated with a track record of delivering high-quality work independently
