Air Separation Operator Trainee

Job Description:

We are seeking an Air Separation Operator (ASU) trainee to join our team at Mack Energy Co. The ideal candidate will have some ASU or natural gas plant experience, This position requires someone who is proactive, detail-oriented, and can work both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

- Operate and monitor ASU to produce oxygen, nitrogen, and argon.

- Maintain the efficient operation of equipment and machinery, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

- Perform routine inspections, identify, and resolve operational issues promptly.

- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and process issues and carry out corrective actions.

- Conduct start-ups and shutdowns of equipment in a safe and controlled manner.

- Record operational data and ensure documentation is accurate and up to date.

- Collaborate with the maintenance team to perform preventative maintenance on equipment.

- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

- Ensure a safe working environment by adhering to all health, safety, and environmental guidelines.

Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent (associate’s degree or technical certifications preferred).

- Air separation units or similar industrial equipment.

- Strong knowledge of plant operation processes for air or natural gas.

- Ability to learn how to interpret process flow diagrams, control room displays, and technical documentation.

- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex equipment and process issues.

- Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations in an industrial setting.

- Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends, as required.

- Strong communication skills and ability to work well with others in a team environment.

Preferred Skills:

- Experience with compressor and cryogenic systems.

- Knowledge of PLCs and SCADA systems.

- Ability to perform basic maintenance tasks and use diagnostic tools.
