Afternoon Shift - Experienced Laser CNC Machine Operator

We are a Steel Processing Plant located in Stoney Creek (Hamilton), Ontario and are looking to add another team member to assist our Afternoon Shift Laser Foreman

Job Description - Including but not limited to:

Fibre Laser CNC Machine Operation x

Read shop drawings accurately to produce parts according to specifications

Perform inspections on finished products to ensure products produced meet quality standards

Read specifications and follow verbal instructions

Utilize computer program to review jobs and their due dates

CNC set up on machine Jobs are preprogrammed, selecting correct job

Verify material and jobs are matching product on table

Use predefined nests, set up and operate Laser CNC Machine

Work with heavy gauge steel and large parts.

Use various measuring instruments e.g. Vernier calipers, protractor, measuring tape, micrometer

Load steel sheets onto cutting table using overhead crane

Ensure parts are defect free and correct by measuring dimensions of finished work pieces. Precision tools and measuring devices are in constant use. example: Vernier calipers, protractor, measuring tape, micrometer

Unload cut parts from laser table, identifying them and ensure parts are routed to the correct department for the next operation.

Remove Skeletons from the cutting table and place in scrap bin

Keep work area clean and organized

Perform daily maintenance to keep clean and ensure machines are working well

Work with team members to maximize productivity and efficiency through continuous improvement initiative

Follow standard work procedures when operating machinery to ensure optimal performance of the equipment and to ensure only quality product is produced

Skills & Experience required

Qualities: Organization, Quick Study, Hard working

1+ years of experience setup and operate Laser machines.

Experience with forklift, overhead cranes is a benefit

Keen attention to detail, an outstanding work ethic and the ability to multi-task

Heavy lifting may be required), gripping, pinching, twisting

Physical job, required to be on your feet all day, moving around consistently

Able to work quickly with minimal supervision

Effective communication skills, both verbal and written

Willingness to learn other jobs and potentially advance to other positions

The shift is NON Rotating.

Monday to Friday – 2:30 pm to 10:30 pm

Wage based on experience
