Overview Accounting Specialist

Responsible for complex activities associated with the functional work group's accounting transactions, financial reports, and internal controls over financial reporting. This is a key contributor in a complex environment who may lead functional teams or projects. With little guidance uses extensive technical knowledge of business operations and technical accounting.

Senior Accountant

Under general direction, responsible for the more complex accounting activities including analyzing accounting transactions & issues, preparing journal entries, maintaining a complete and accurate general ledger, preparing & analyzing financial reports and enhancing internal controls over financial reporting. This is a senior-skill level normally without supervisory responsibility. However, may provide guidance and direction to other PPL employees in support of producing high quality, timely

and cost-effective accounting solutions. Works independently with minimal guidance using knowledge of business operations and accounting.

Responsibilities Accounting Specialist

•

Evaluates accounting policies & procedures to reflect changes in business conditions, processes, and accounting

•

Responsible for the preparation of complex analyses, various analytics or financial

•

Assesses the impacts of new systems on internal controls over financial

•

Solves complex problems; takes a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions and makes use of knowledge of company operations, technical accounting matters and industry

•

Interprets internal/external business issues and recommends best This may include the review of complex contracts and agreements to identify and address accounting implications.

•

May lead functional teams or projects to achieve milestones and objectives and will occasionally present topical matters to senior leadership in the Financial Trains and develops subordinate staff.

•

Works independently with guidance on only the most complex

•

Ensures compliance with legal and regulatory

•

All positions in which driving is an essential function of the job, regardless if the job code is marked safety sensitive or not, will also be included as safety sensitive

•

May be assigned an Electric Utilities emergency and storm role. This is a special assignment that comes into play during storms and other emergencies when the company needs to restore power or respond to other issues affecting customer service. This role may necessitate the need to work after-hours, outside of your normal schedule.

In the case of remote work, physical presence in the office/on-site may be required to engage in face-to-face interaction and coordination of work among direct reports and co-workers.

Senior Accountant
:

•

Evaluates accounting policies and procedures to reflect changes in business conditions, processes, and accounting

Prepares more complex accounting analyses and journal

Prepares and analyzes financial statements and other internal/external financial

Qualifications Accounting Specialist
:

•

Bachelor's Degree in business discipline with at least three accounting courses and 7 or more years accounting-related experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Accounting with a minimum of 4 years accounting-related experience and CPA or CMA certification. (Required to actively pursue certification within two years of the job effective date.)

Preferred Qualifications

:

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, MBA, or other advanced degree in business discipline.

•

CPA or CMA certification.

•

Experience in public utility accounting, SEC reporting and a working knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.

•

Requires effective written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills, and a demonstrated ability to research and apply technical accounting guidance

Senior Accountant
:

•

Bachelor's Degree in business discipline with at least 3 accounting courses and 5 years accounting experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Accounting with 3-5 years of accounting-related experience.

•

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; use of excel/word is required.

Preferred Qualifications
:

•

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, MBA, or other advanced degree in business discipline.

CPA or CMA certification.

•

Experience in utility accounting, public accounting and SEC reporting, and a working knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
