Description SUMMARY

Cost accounting activities related to manufacturing operations that include analyzing, reconciling, and controlling inventory, cost of sales, product margins, and productivity. Analyze financial information, prepare accurate and timely financial reports and statements, and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures. Lead accounting related projects. Drive company performance by identifying areas of opportunity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintain company product cost system including interface to general ledger

- Analyzes and review bills of material to ensure accurate product costing.

- Prepares and reviews product cost estimates as requested by Sales and Eng depts.

- Analyzes manufacturing variances related to material, labor and burden.

- Analyzes detail and trends related to scrap.

- Supports annual labor and overhead review to establish standard product costs and rates.

Provide leadership in area of inventory management

- Monthly inventory reconciliation to general ledger

- Cycle count results/analysis

- Works with outside auditors to ensure successful and timely completion of annual inventory observation

- Calculates company LIFO projection/ validates annual calculation

Prepare monthly management reporting and accompanying schedules, worksheets and narratives, including variance reports. Provide follow-up and documentation of significant variances. Collaborate within the company to improve performance to drive results.

Support tactical and strategic development initiatives for management reporting, data warehousing and profitability reporting.

Demonstrate ability to manage and shift priorities to meet day-to-day operational needs and mandated deadlines.

Provide excellent customer service by developing internal and external relationships.

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year College or university and at least five years of progressively responsible experience in accounting industry or equivalent combination of education and experience. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including V-lookups and pivot tables. CPA license preferred.
