Accountant / Bookkeeper

Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Accountant / Bookkeeper to join our finance team. Responsibilities

- Maintain and update the general ledger using accounting software such as ZOHO books, QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar platforms.

- Prepare and record journal entries to accurately reflect financial transactions, including debits & credits, account analysis, and account reconciliation.

- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliation to ensure all accounts are accurate and complete.

- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice processing, payment scheduling, and collections.

- Conduct bank reconciliations to verify cash balances and resolve discrepancies promptly.

- Assist with payroll processing, ensuring compliance with tax regulations and proper account classification.

- Support budgeting activities by analyzing expenses, preparing financial reports, and monitoring variances.

- Ensure adherence to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and governmental accounting standards where applicable.

- Prepare financial reports by gathering data from various sources; write clear summaries for management review.

- Handle tax-related tasks such as preparing tax filings, maintaining supporting documentation, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

- Perform internal control procedures including double-entry bookkeeping, general ledger accounting, and account analysis to maintain data integrity.

Experience

- Proven experience in corporate or non-profit accounting environments with a strong understanding of financial concepts.

- Hands-on experience with accounting software such as ZOHO Books QuickBooks, Quicken, Sage, Xero or similar platforms is essential.

- Demonstrated ability in bank reconciliation, account reconciliation, journal entries, and general ledger management.

- Knowledge of governmental accounting practices is a plus but not required.

- Familiarity with payroll processing and tax experience is highly desirable.

- Strong understanding of debits & credits, double-entry bookkeeping, and financial statement preparation.

- Excellent attention to detail with proficiency in 10 key typing for data entry accuracy.

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
