Title: 2nd Shift - Material Handler / Laser Operator
Function: To perform general material handling duties on products produced for the surface mount stencil, photochemical machining and medical device industries - operate the laser cutting machines and other ancillary equipment in accordance with GLE standard operating procedures.
Coordinates with: Engineering, Mounting, QC, Shipping & Receiving, Operations, Sales
1) Perform the pre-cut material, frame, and data inspections, computer usage, final quality control, low level machine maintenance, coordination with Engineering to process the work as priority and GLE standards require.
2) Perform metal sheering, cleaning and meshing of frames, mounting, inspection and cleaning of metal foils as required by Great Lakes Engineering (GLE) mounting area standard operating procedures.
3) Perform metal cleaning, polishing, laminating, developing, production inspection and packaging as required by Great Lakes Engineering (GLE) Wet Process Area standard operating procedures to produce surface mount stencils, medical devices and other photo chemically machined products.
4) Ensure that Great Lakes Engineering meets all quality specifications for both internal and external industry standards.
5) Perform duties as an inspector for your area as needed.
6) Participate in activities that ensure Great Lakes Engineering meets all standards for workplace safety and general housekeeping.
7) Coordinate with operations and engineering to correct any deficiencies in quality during the production of laser cut products.
8) Coordinate with purchasing to ensure that the laser areas have adequate supplies to perform their daily functions. (Spare Parts, Equipment, and Materials)
9) Participate in the development and implementation and standardization of operating procedures for the laser department.
10) Participate in the development and implementation of electronic data control, software, systems to enhance and improve quality data reporting internally and externally for obtaining and maintaining ISO certification.
11) Ensure that all laser equipment is properly maintained within quality standard guidelines.
12) Coordinate with the maintenance department to correct any equipment deficiencies and participate in a preventative maintenance program.
13) Collect, organize & report quality control data and department information for financial and managerial and ISO reporting.
14) Complete area and equipment inspections as required.
15) Complete daily, weekly & monthly inventories as required.
16) Perform mounting/other duties as requested or needed.
· Minimum of 2 years of experience in a surface mount stencil manufacturing environment or,
· 3 years of experience working in a general manufacturing environment with a high school diploma or equivalent.
§ Must be able to use a computer, navigate a file system for document retrieval and storage
§ Must be able to communicate in verbal or written form.
§ Must be able to hear and respond to loudspeaker page for facility evacuation in case of fire or other emergency.
§ Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds.
