Sets up and operates numerically controlled burn table to perform burning operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Safety glasses, steel toed shoes, and hearing protection required at all times.
Grinding shield worn properly at all times while grinding.
Reads process sheets, blueprints, and sketches of part to determine burning to be done, dimensional specifications, set up, and operating requirements.
Selects proper work piece and places on table using overhead hoist.
Selects and installs preset tooling in tool posts, turrets or indexing heads, and automatic tool change magazine, in sequence specified on process sheet.
Depresses buttons, toggles, or sets tape and starts machining operation.
Observes numerical displays on control panel and compares with data on process sheet to verify dimensional adjustments, feed rates, and speeds of burning cuts.
Turns dials and switches to override CNC control and correct machine performance.
Inspects first run piece and spot checks succeeding pieces for conformance to specifications.
Fills out required paperwork and signs off accordingly.
Studies job packet and organizes materials for next run during automatic controlled cycles to shorten changeover time.
Grinds parts as required to remove slag, etc.
May set up and operate another machine during burning cycles.
May write or modify programs as required.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before employees of organization.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand. The employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and distance vision. Constant or regularly, means greater than 150 times per day, frequently means 33-150 times per day, occasionally means 4-32 times, and infrequently is less than 4 times daily.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
