Position Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and dependable Welder I to join our 1st shift fabrication team. This is an entry- to mid-level position ideal for someone with foundational welding experience looking to grow their skills in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The Welder I will be responsible for reading blueprints, preparing metal components, and performing MIG and/or TIG welding to assemble structural and custom metal products according to specifications.
You will play a critical role in ensuring the strength, precision, and appearance of our products meet the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities:
•Perform MIG (GMAW) welding on carbon steel, galvanized steel, or aluminum components per job specifications
•Set up welding machines, check settings, and select proper wire and gas combinations for material type
•Interpret basic blueprints, work orders, and welding symbols to determine welding requirements
•Prepare parts for welding by cleaning, grinding, and aligning materials using jigs or fixtures
•Maintain consistent weld quality with proper bead appearance, penetration, and joint integrity
•Conduct self-inspection of welds to ensure compliance with specifications and tolerances
•Communicate any quality or equipment issues to supervisors and assist with troubleshooting
•Operate related fabrication equipment (grinders, saws, drills) and hand tools safely and effectively
•Follow all safety protocols, including the use of PPE, lockout/tagout procedures, and welding safety standards
•Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with 5S and plant housekeeping standards
Required Qualifications:
•High school diploma or GED
•1+ years of welding experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or fabrication environment
•Basic understanding of welding techniques, tools, and equipment
•Familiarity with MIG welding (required); TIG welding exposure is a plus
•Ability to read and interpret basic fabrication blueprints and welding symbols
•Comfortable using measuring tools such as tape measures, squares, and calipers
•Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand, bend, or kneel for extended periods
•Willingness to work overtime when needed
Preferred Qualifications:
•Technical training or welding certification from a trade school or community college
•Experience with welding fixtures and jigs
•Familiarity with welding standards (AWS D1.1 or similar)
•Forklift or crane experience a plus
•Positive attitude and strong team ethic
