Under the direction of the Mechanic Supervisor, the Field Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, maintaining and rebuilding a wide range of well servicing equipment both in the shop and during field service calls. This position ensures equipment reliability, supports operational readiness and provides timely on-site repairs to minimize downtime. Work includes diagnostics, component replacement, system testing and completion of work orders in accordance with company safety and quality standards.
This role ensures Foremost Well Service adheres to the highest standards of safety, compliance, and operational excellence, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. This role is expected to coordinate with ALL divisions, regardless of location, to add value as needed.
Summary of Duties: (Duties may include, but are not limited to the following)
- · Perform inspections, repairs and routine maintenance on well servicing units and related support equipment.
- · Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic and basic electrical issues and determine appropriate corrective actions.
- · Complete component replacements, adjustments, lubrication and system testing to ensure safe operation.
- · Respond to field calls and perform on-site repairs in various conditions, often with limited supervision.
- · Utilize diagnostic tools and technical references to identify root causes of equipment failures.
- · Provide recommendations to operations personnel regarding equipment condition, necessary repairs and preventative measures.
- · Assist in developing solutions that improve equipment reliability and reduce repeat issues.
- · Coordinate with 3rd party mechanic personnel for diagnostics & trouble shooting steps.
- · Accurately document all service work, including labor, parts used and repair notes in Fleetio via Work Orders.
- · Maintain detailed and organized records of inspections, repairs and field service activities.
- · Assist with parts identification and ensure correct materials are used for each repair.
- · Follow all company safety procedures, policies and industry best practices.
- · Maintain a clean, orderly and safe work environment in both shop and field settings.
- · Use appropriate PPE and ensure equipment is operated and serviced according to safety guidelines.
- · Report hazards, incidents or equipment concerns promptly to management.
- · Collaborate with shop personnel and operations to support equipment readiness.
- · Participate in ongoing training and skill development related to equipment systems, safety and maintenance.
- · Provide feedback to supervisors regarding recurring equipment issues or improvements to maintenance processes.
- · Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of engines, hydraulics, and mechanical systems.
- · Ability to diagnose and repair equipment with minimal supervision.
- · Skilled in safe use of hand tools, power tools, lifting equipment, and diagnostic instruments.
- · Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and service instructions.

- · High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade school certification in mechanical, engineering or equivalent professional experience preferred.
