Our company assists wind farms during construction, operations, and preventive maintenance to guarantee clean and renewable wind energy power production. Each turbine we work on provides enough energy to power 3, 000 homes per month.
Job Summary: Responsible for leading teams in performing high category level repairs on Wind Towers/Wind Turbines. Expected to demonstrate expert-level technical competence, advanced composite repair capabilities, and leadership in field operations. This role requires a strong understanding of blade structure, repair procedures, and quality control, as well as the ability to assess and execute complex repairs with minimal supervision.
Duties/Responsibilities:
•Act as the team leader, taking full responsibility for repairs ranging from Category 1 to Category 5 (includes infusions, transverse cracks damaging all inner and outer layers, shear web cutting and bonding, root and sparcaps repairs).
•Identify and investigate blade damages up to severity level 5
•Ensure the quality and compliance of all completed repairs.
•Verify that the work is completed in compliance with customer’s requirements
•Serve as the main point of communication between the field team and the engineering department.
•Prepare and submit all required reports related to repair activities.
•Follow all assigned Environmental, Health and Safety procedures.
•Perform work based on established work procedures.
•Required Skills/Abilities:
•Must have at least 4 years of experience in the wind industry, experience with field repairs in which platforms will be used as an access method.
•Mastery of blade repair chemicals, including memorization and accurate use of mix ratios.
•Skilled in advanced scarfing techniques, taper chamfering, and scarf ratio applications.
•Proficient in vacuum bagging techniques, lamination principles, and composite repair methods.
•Proficient in the use of hand and power tools for blade repairs.
•Expertise in balsa/foam core repairs.
•Application of proper filler materials, gel-coat, and Leading-Edge Protection (LEP).
•Competent in repairing major Leading Edge (LE), Trailing Edge (TE), and spar cap damage
•Experience with multi-shell tip replacements and maximum chord buckle remediation.
•Must be able to execute complex repairs:
•Full tip repairs, including TE split, LE, TE, bondcap, shear web, and spar components.
• Root ring damage remediation and close-out installations. Mid-span LE and TE damage repair.
•TE paste remediation and advanced aerodynamic structure restoration.
•Conducts comprehensive inspections and complex damage assessments.
•Identifies structural issues including waves, wrinkles, and aspect ratio deformities.
•Demonstrates consistent application of quality control standards and basic defect analysis.
•Proficient in reading and interpreting wiring schematics, technical reports, and work instructions (WDI, TWP).
•Strong written communication skills for documentation and reporting/taking photos.
•Proficient in rigging/de-rigging suspended and 360° platforms.
•Leads suspended platform operations, ensuring safety and efficiency.
•Maintains adherence to safety and operational protocols in high-risk environments.
•Recognizes opportunities for process improvement and contributes to optimization initiatives.
•Provides mentorship and technical guidance to Level I and Level II technicians.
•Collaborates effectively with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and quality standards.
•Experience in handling and installing vortex generators (VGs), including serrations, panels, vanes, and flow anchors.
•Perform blade repairs and inspections at heights up to 300 feet.
•Must be comfortable working at heights of up to 300 feet.
•Work in confined spaces with diverse environmental conditions
•Must be dependable and willing to complete the project at hand from start to finish.
•Must be local to the Dallas Fort-Worth Metroplex .
•Must be willing to travel 100% of the time.
•Must be able to lift 80 pounds.
•Must have a valid driver’s license.
•Candidate must be able to successfully complete and pass background and drug screening.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED required
Wind Technical School is a plus
