SUMMARY
This position reports to the Wildlife Biologist Planner in the Solid Waste Division. This position is responsible for all activities related to bird control activity at the ACUA landfill.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Written data collection using good penmanship skills. Must be neat and accurate.
Inspections of the Environmental Park and surrounding areas.
Deter bird activity at the landfill for the prevention of local airborne collision with operating aircraft.
Record all deterrent activity in the Bird Control Events Log to include detailed observations of species identification,
exact quantities of specific species, location of activity, and type of activity.
Detect, record and report landfill and compost site odor issues using Authority metrics and forms.
Conduct the Biologist Survey which are point samples taken at 8:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m., and
4:00 p.m., recording the number and species of the birds at the seven identified locations around the facility that attract
birds.
Assist with annual maintenance and monitor the ACUA Bluebird Trail along with all other nest boxes on site.
Establish and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, etc.
Safe vehicle operation and pyrotechnic usage at all times.
Work in a safe manner and report unsafe activities and conditions. Follow the Authority safety policy and practices and
make these a critical part of day to day operations.
Perform other duties as directed by Supervisor.

As needed and/or directed, assist the ACUA with its environmental mission and commitment to excellent customer
service, to include but not limited to: serve in an advocacy role, help with site tours, attend events and activities that the
Authority participates in or sponsors.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or GED
ESSENTIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES
Valid driver’s license in good standing
Knowledge of bird species, their behavior and habitats
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent observation and note-taking skills
Must be able to work in all outdoor weather conditions
