Use MIG and TIG to weld or join metal components or to fill holes, indentations, or seams of fabricated aluminum, steel, or stainless products.

- High School diploma
- 1 year welding experience
- Proficient in MIG and TIG
- Must pass in-house welding test
- Ability to follow written and verbal work instructions
- Ability to use standard measuring tools, hand tools and material handling equipment commonly used in metal manufacturing
- Ability to read and interpret drawings
- Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade
- Select torch tips and filler material according to welding chart specifications or types and thicknesses of metals
- Perform inspections of parts; check height, depth, and thickness using micrometers, dial indicators, calipers, and other precision-measuring instruments
- Produce the first piece of a product in a run, inspect the piece by using standard measuring tools and then finish the production run maintaining quality standards throughout the run
- Read drawings
- Work with tight tolerances
- Monitor and evaluate machine operation; troubleshoot production problems and their causes and take appropriate corrective action
- Report improper operation, faulty equipment, defective materials and unusual conditions to the supervisor
- Maintain necessary records and workflow processes
- Meet customer specifications and delivery requirements
- Complete and maintain production and quality paperwork
- Performs all required routine and minor maintenance activities according to procedure
- Other duties as assigned
Must be able to routinely stand, sit, stoop, twist and bend. Must be able to stay on feet for most of the work day. Must be able to lift 0 – 50 pounds frequently; 50 – 75 pounds, occasionally. Hold the arm and hand in one position or hold the hand steady while moving the arm. Use one or two hands to grasp and move objects. Use fingers to grasp and move objects. Bend, stretch, twist, or reach out. Make repetitive movements with fingers, hands, and wrists. Visual acuity required for written material, and drawings, and to inspect parts to ensure they meet specifications. Hearing ability sufficient to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose changes in order to take appropriate action.
Environment is a sheet metal fabrication shop. Worker will be subject to high noise levels and exposed to heavy machinery. Worker may be exposed to dust, fumes, and airborne particles. Sheet metal can cause cuts and lacerations. Metal is highly conductive of thermal energy. Burns are possible when metal is exposed to open flames or a heat source. Inhaling sheet metal dust can increase the chances of respiratory illness. Exposure to oil and grease is possible. Machinery such as turrets, lasers, press brakes, shears, saws, and mills can cause bodily harm in the event of improper operation or malfunction.
