About the Role: UPS Industrial Services is seeking skilled and experienced Welder IV to join our team. The ideal candidates will be based locally in the Chalmette, LA area. The Welder IV will be responsible for Lays out, fits, and welds fabricated, cast, and forged components to assemble structural forms, such as tanks, pressure vessels, furnace shells, and building and bridge parts. These positions will involve maintenance and turnaround work as required. The roles are typically long-term. Please note, there is no per diem offered for these positions. This is a local maintenance project and does not pay per-diem so the ideal candidate must live within 50 miles of Chalmette, LA. The shifts are 5x8's Monday - Friday.
Requirements:
•Must be able to pass drug screen.
•Must be able to pass background check.
•Must have a valid TWIC card.
•Must be able to pass a physical and PFT/FIT test.
•Must be committed to safety and quality
Essential Functions
•Selects equipment and plans layout, assembly, and welding, applying knowledge of geometry, physical properties of metal machining weld shrinkage, and welding techniques.
•Lays out, positions, aligns, and fits components together.
•Bolts, clamps, and tack-welds parts to secure in position for welding.
•Sets up equipment and welds parts, using arc, gas-shielded arc, submerged arc, or gas welding equipment.
•May assemble parts by bolting and riveting.
•May repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts, using cutting torch, straightening press, and hand tools.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
•Pass applicable welding qualification test.

•Lift and carry objects and materials weighing up to 75 pounds, with frequent lifting and carrying of objects and materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
•Rate information using standards that can be measured or checked;
•Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy;
•Look at flat drawings, pictures, and blueprints and visualize how they would look as solid objects with height, width, and depth;
•Climb up on and balance on ladders, scaffolding, or stairs;
•See well (either naturally or with correction);
•Stoop, kneel crouch, and crawl to reach hard to get at work areas;
•Use hands and arms to reach for, grasp, and manipulate objects;
•Work at heights as required.
•See detail in objects or drawings and recognize slight differences in shapes or shadings;
•Work easily and skillfully with hands.
•Perform other duties as may be required by Field Supervision
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
•High school graduate or equivalent.
•No experience is necessary. However we do prefer any type of background in the construction industry.
