JOB SUMMARY
Welders are expected to understand all aspects of installing miscellaneous and structural steel as well as metal decking.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Preps connections using wire brushes or grinders.
Welds components and connections using GMAW and SMAW welding processes.
Completes welded connection utilizing flux core and stick process.
Observes tests on welded surfaces to evaluate weld quality and conformance to specifications.
Removes rough spots from workpieces using portable grinders, hand files, or scrapers.
Welds components in flat, vertical or overhead positions.
Cut materials to specifications.
Rigging, flagging and bolting steel.
Assist ironworkers in erection.
Attend Harvey | Harvey-Cleary training and safety meetings, when required.
Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required.
3G Welding Certification (flat, vertical, and overhead position)
Prior welding experience is required.
Certifications in Fall Protection, Scissor/Boom Lifts, Rigging and Flagging required.
OSHA 10 within 90 days of employment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
Must have a keen sense of balance and have experience on leading edge and climbing iron. Must be able to work at heights.
Must be able to perform physical activities that require the use of arms, legs and entire body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking on uneven surfaces, bending, stooping, pushing/pulling, etc.
Must be able to work around extreme temperatures and with other environmental aspects of welding.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
Manual dexterity and sufficient ability to coordinate movement of hands, feet, and body generally as needed to operate a variety of machinery, tools, and equipment.
Must be able to work in a variety of work conditions and tolerate exposure to typical noise, smells, weather elements, and other elements associated with commercial construction sites.
To safely conduct activities, operate equipment and navigate the worksite, must be able to be aware of surroundings (which generally requires sufficient vision and hearing).
Must be able to distinguish colors givens safety signs and warnings.
Must be able to maintain balance.
Must be able to work at heights.
Must be able to work in tight or confined spaces.
Must be able to use all applicable Personal Protective Equipment, which may include fall protection and respirators.
Must be able to perform all the functions necessary to complete the above duties/responsibilities on a safe but timely basis.
Must be able to safely work on or around scaffolding and trenches.
Prospective employees must be able to pass a criminal background check, random drug screen, pre-employment physical, and silica exam, if applicable.
