We are looking for a skilled and experienced Welder to join our team. The ideal candidate will specialize in metal core and flux core welding and will be responsible for performing high-quality welding on various metals and alloys. The Welder will ensure that all work is completed in accordance with safety standards and project specifications. The location is in Georgetown, Ontario.
Day Shift: 7:00 am to 3:30 pm Monday to Friday.
- Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications according to requirements.
- Set up welding machines and tools, based on job specifications.
- Perform various types of welding (FCAW, TIG/GTAW, MIG/GMAW, Stick/SMAW) at a proficient level on various components, assemblies and structures of stainless steel.
- Certified to weld in all positions; flat (1F/1G), horizontal (2F2G), vertical (3F/3G), overhead (4F/4G), and pipe (5G/6G).
- Fit, tack, and weld components, sub-components and assemblies in accordance with technical drawings and tolerances.
- Cross train and mentor Welder-1 and Welder-2 to become equally proficient in producing quality welds.
- Operate various machinery for cutting, drilling and grinding.
- Inspect completed welds for accuracy and quality in accordance to set specifications.
- Detect and correct any welding defect.
- Establish and continually enhance best practices procedures for welding components, assemblies and structures.
- Perform maintenance on welding equipment and tools.
- Ensure minimum safety stock inventory of welding supplies are in place when removing any item from the welding inventory stock. If not, escalate to the Team Leader then Area leader.
- Work collaboratively with all team members to ensure production goals are met.
- Complete all required inspection documentation and uploading prior to advancing unit forward in process.
- Keep work area organized and perform.
- General housekeeping prior to end of shift.
- Promote a strong safety culture, enforcing safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all staff.
- Perform all work in a safe manner in compliance with Company specifications, including all local, provincial and federal regulations (OSHA, ESA, CSA, etc.). Immediately report unsafe conditions to Manager/Supervisor within the department.
- Other duties as assigned by manager/supervisor.
- Valid CWB or AWS certification.
- Minimum 5 years of welding experience.
- Reading and understanding of technical drawings.
- Ability to work within a team and independently to complete daily activities according to work schedule.
- Crane license an asset.
- Detail oriented.
- Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures.
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English is required.
- Knowledge of appropriate materials, methods and tools required in various construction process.
- Legally allowed to work in Canada.
- Manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, noise, vibration and metal dust.
- Effectively perform in a fast-paced environment, and sometimes high stress situations.
- Required to lift and handle heavy objects up to 50 lbs.
- Exposure to welding fumes and dust, as well as air born insulation, for which masks are available.
- Ability to climb or balance, stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and twist, and climb throughout entire shift.
- Required to wear PPE (welding helmet, welding gloves, safety glasses, safety boots, ear plugs are required)
- Required to be clean shaven to be fit tested for respirator. If unable to be clean shaven, need to supply your own powered air purifying respirator, PAPR helmet which complies with SFAB supplied filters.
- May require overtime, shift work depending on production demand.
Fitted respirators are required to be worn - Candidates must be willing to be clean shaven to wear company provided half respirators, or must provide their own PAPR welding helmet.
