1) Welds metal parts together using electric or gas welding equipment; 2) fills cavities or corrects malformation in parts and hammers out bulges and bends in metal parts; 3) Uses a grinder to smooth out burrs and rough edges; 4) Examines parts for defects and assures conformance of parts; 5) arranges work in a safe and efficient manner; 6) lifts parts; 7) dismantles metal assemblies or cuts scrap metal using plasma torch; 8) work in a safe manner and follow all safety rules, policies and procedures; 9) keep work area clean and organized; and 10) any other duties as assigned
1) Knowledge about welding techniques, welding gases, and cutting tips; 2) working knowledge of sheet metal; 3) knowledge of tooling and maintenance; 4) proven measurement and mathematical fraction/decimal conversion skills; 5) ability to distinguish material types including aluminum, steel, stainless steel, copper and brass; 6) ability to read blueprints; 7) arm-hand steadiness and manual dexterity; 8) read a tape measure to the 1/16 of an inch; and 9) knowledge of safe lifting techniques of heavy items
Education & Experience
1) High School Diploma or equivalency preferred; 2) six (6) months of welding experience preferred; welding certification preferred; 3) previous experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
