Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Weld Manufacturing Engineering Lead to join our dynamic team. This dual-role position is responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing manufacturing and welding processes that ensure product quality, cost efficiency, and timely delivery. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in metal fabrication, tooling, and welding process development—working cross-functionally with design, production, and quality teams to ensure manufacturing excellence and continuous improvement across all operations.

- Design, develop, and optimize manufacturing and welding processes to meet customer specifications, delivery schedules, and cost targets.

- Lead cross-functional projects to resolve technical challenges, meet production milestones, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

- Develop and apply best practices for tooling, fixtures, joint design, and process development to enhance efficiency, repeatability, and weld quality.

- Provide expert technical guidance on all metal fabrication processes, including laser cutting, stamping, forming, and welding (GMAW, GTAW, SMAW, FCAW).

- Develop, qualify, and maintain Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder Qualification Tests (WQT) in compliance with ASME, AWS, and API codes.

- Select appropriate welding processes, materials, and joint configurations to ensure manufacturability, structural integrity, and cost-effectiveness.

- Troubleshoot fabrication and welding defects, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.

- Conduct weld testing and failure analysis to support product performance and quality objectives.

- Collaborate with design, production, quality, and maintenance teams to ensure manufacturability, equipment reliability, and process consistency.

- Drive innovation by identifying and introducing new technologies, materials, and automation to improve productivity, quality, and cost efficiency.

- Utilize CAD (SolidWorks preferred) for fixture and tooling design and support implementation through process validation and documentation.

- Provide hands-on training and technical support to welders and production personnel to ensure compliance with company and industry standards.

- Support lean manufacturing initiatives and process improvement projects to reduce waste, improve throughput, and optimize overall plant performance.

- Evaluate and recommend welding and fabrication equipment, consumables, and process enhancements.

- Ensure all manufacturing and welding operations adhere to company standards, quality requirements, and applicable industry codes and regulations.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, welding engineering, or metal fabrication.

- Strong knowledge of fabrication and welding processes including GMAW, GTAW, SMAW, and FCAW.

- Experience with fixture and tooling design (SolidWorks preferred).

- Proficiency in CAD and ERP systems.

- Familiarity with ASME Section IX, AWS D1.1, and related codes.

- Proven track record in process improvement, project management, and cross-functional collaboration.

- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

- Certification as a Certified Welding Engineer (CWEng) or Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) preferred but not required.

Pay: $85,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
