Under the general direction and guidance of the Senior Field Supervisor, Waterways Programming Department, will assist in the
implementation, administration and ongoing evaluations of the Waterways Management Programs (WMP) including Debris
contracts, Boat Patrols and Safe Ice Trails. This individual will provide assistance to the Field Supervisors as directed to strengthen
community relations, as well as providing logistic support within the department.
Responsibilities:
•Provide leadership and guidance to field staff ensuring WMP objectives are met through local meetings, site inspections and
the monitoring of the programs in area of responsibility
•Assist the Field Supervisors as directed in working with the communities to determine the needs of the waterways users and
implement directed actions to facilitate those needs.
•Work with communities to identify potential employment opportunities in Manitoba Hydro.
•Provide guidance, leadership, and on-the-job training to field staff on the tools and equipment to perform their duties and
ensure field work is performed in compliance with all corporate and regulatory requirements for a safe work environment.
•Assist in recommending the selection of field staff and provide input in their performance through employee appraisals and
development plans.
•Assist with the administration of employee's time and expenditures.
•Assist in accessing and evaluating the quality of services provided by local vendors to ensure contractual obligations are met.
•Assist in the monitoring, tracking and recommend progress payments relating to program expenditures.
•Perform operation and maintenance requirements of WMP vehicles and equipment.
•Expedite equipment and material for contractors and crews.
•Establish and maintain detailed records of observations, meetings and discussions.
•Prepare detailed reports on field work and technical data and ensure field reports are submitted as required.
•Carry out rough carpentry work.
•Ensure the activities of the programs comply with the corporate and regulatory requirements with regards to legal,
environmental and safety issues.
Qualifications:
•Grade 12 plus two years of related experience;
OR
•Grade 10 plus three years of related experience.
•Possess demonstrated skills and abilities relating to Indigenous Traditional Knowledge.
•Possess ability to readily establish rapport with others.
•Willingness to take courses and training to upgrade academic work requirement skills.
•Possess a demonstrated ability to deal effectively with people within and external to the Corporation with diplomacy and tact.
•Possess demonstrated ability to work with minimum supervision with general direction and using own initiative and judgement.

Salary Range
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $29.12-$39.90 Hourly,
$55,796.78-$76,451.18 Annually.
