A growing mid-sized engineering and design firm with a strong presence across the Southeast and South-Central U.S. is seeking a seasoned leader to launch and build its Water & Wastewater practice. This is a rare opportunity to step into a pivotal role and drive the growth of a new service line within a well-established regional player.

In this high-impact position, you’ll shape strategy, assemble and mentor a team, and lead the delivery of innovative infrastructure solutions for both public and private sector clients. Key responsibilities for this role will include (but are not limited to):

•

Establish and lead a new water and wastewater services group, including defining service offerings and strategic direction.

•

Oversee the full lifecycle of water and wastewater projects—from planning and design to permitting and construction support—ensuring high quality and client satisfaction.

•

Recruit, mentor, and manage a multidisciplinary team of engineers and technical staff.

•

Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and resource allocation to meet performance goals.

•

Lead client engagement and business development efforts, including identifying new opportunities, writing proposals, and presenting to prospective clients.

•

Collaborate with internal teams to cross-sell services and support integrated project delivery.

•

Define and execute a long-term growth strategy for the practice across multiple office locations.

•

Represent the firm in industry organizations, events, and conferences to build visibility and credibility in the market.

Required and desired skillsets, experience, and qualifications for this role:

•

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field.

•

A Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.

•

At least 10 years of experience in water and wastewater engineering.

•

Proven experience leading projects and managing teams.

•

Strong technical knowledge of water and wastewater system design.

•

Experience growing a practice or business area is a plus.

•

Good at building and maintaining client relationships.

•

Strong communication and leadership skills.

•

Experience working in consulting engineering firms is preferred.

•

Ability to utilize Excel spreadsheets, create Excel trackers, and be able to use Word and PowerPoint for reporting/presentations via Teams or in person.
