About This Job
•
Installation and Maintenance:Installing, repairing, and maintaining water mains, service lines, valves, fire hydrants, and meters.
•
Repairs:Repairing water main breaks, service leaks, and other issues within the water distribution system.
•
System Maintenance:Flushing hydrants, maintaining blow-off valves, and ensuring the overall cleanliness of system components.
•
Water Quality:Disinfecting new or repaired pipes and ensuring the sanitary delivery of water to the public.
•
Equipment Operation:Operating various equipment, including excavators, backhoes, and other machinery, to complete repairs and maintenance.
•
Traffic Control:Implementing traffic control measures in areas where work affects routine traffic.
Specific Tasks:
•
Water Meter Maintenance:Inspecting, repairing, and replacing water meters, including troubleshooting issues with radio-read meters.
•
Excavation and Repair:Excavating trenches for water line repairs and ensuring proper backfilling and compaction.
•
Valve Maintenance:Inspecting, repairing, and replacing valves to control water flow and pressure.
•
Hydrant Maintenance:Inspecting, repairing, and replacing fire hydrants, ensuring they are operational for fire protection.
•
New Service Connections:Installing new water service connections, including taps, meters, and backflow devices.
Skills and Qualifications:
•
Technical Skills: Knowledge of plumbing, pipefitting, and water distribution system components.
•
Equipment Operation: Proficiency in operating various heavy equipment.
•
Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and repair issues within the water distribution system.
•
Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and working in various weather conditions.
•
Safety Awareness: Understanding and adhering to safety regulations and procedures.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
