Water and Wastewater Plant Operator Nelson BC and AB
Aqua Diversities Inc. is a small, dynamic company offering advanced water and wastewater equipment and operations services and solutions. We are seeking a Water and Wastewater Plant Operator with excellent technical and mechanical aptitude to support the operation of public and private water and wastewater facilities throughout British Columbia and Alberta, based out of Nelson, BC and Jasper, AB. If you are a qualified Operator, interested in meaningful work experience and real, hands-on training across all aspects of water and wastewater treatment, this is the opportunity for you. Job responsibilities will include the safe operation of treatment equipment, setting and monitoring chemical feed rates, operating the collection and distribution systems, monitoring the process computer, performing established water quality tests, interpreting laboratory data and test results, and reporting to operations management. You will also update and maintain documentation, reports, logs, and other records pertaining to tests and processes, correct minor operating problems and perform other related duties as required and/or assigned.
Qualified candidates will possess the following qualifications and experience: ● 1-5 years of relevant experience in water and wastewater systems ● Level 1 Water and Wastewater Treatment Certificates required ● Level 1 Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection considered an asset ● Water Quality Technology Diploma OR a similar recognized qualification ● Grade 12/ GED ● Valid Class 5 Motor Vehicle Operator’s License.
The ideal candidate will also demonstrate strong initiative, professional communication skills, analytical and troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work well alone and in a team environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and Outlook is required. You must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position. Mechanical aptitude is a key skill for this position, and construction experience is a significant asset.
Role requirements: ● Hours: Average 40 hours per week, with opportunities for overtime based on demands ● Regular travel within British Columbia and Alberta to support the operation of public and private water and wastewater facilities throughout both provinces ● Wage: Base rate up to $35 per hour based on tickets and experience ● $500 Annual recreation allowance and opportunity for benefits after probationary period.
