Job Overview
The Wastewater Treatment Technician is responsible for the operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment facilities. This role involves monitoring the treatment processes, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, and performing routine maintenance on equipment to ensure efficient and safe operations.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
•Monitor and control wastewater treatment processes, including filtration, chemical addition, and disinfection.
•Perform regular inspections and maintenance of equipment such as pumps, motors, and valves.
•Collect and analyze water samples to assess treatment efficiency and regulatory compliance.
•Maintain accurate records of operations, maintenance activities, and any incidents that occur.
•Respond to alarms and troubleshoot issues in a timely manner to prevent service interruptions.
•Assist in the training of new staff on wastewater treatment processes and safety protocols.
•Comply with all safety and environmental regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
•Assist other departments as needed.
Education and Experience
A high school diploma or equivalent is required; an associate degree in environmental science, wastewater treatment technology, or a related field is preferred. Previous experience in wastewater treatment or a related field is advantageous.
Required Skills and Qualifications
•Strong understanding of wastewater treatment processes and systems.
•Proficient in the use of laboratory equipment for water quality analysis.
•Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
•Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
•Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
•Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations related to wastewater treatment.
•Ability to operate complex machinery and tools.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
