Overview
Travel to MRC Global and affiliated warehouses to provide direction, support and training to warehouse personnel.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
The Role’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Travel to MRC Global warehouse locations for inventory monitoring and to verify the compliance of corporate warehouse policies and procedures.
- Perform assessments of warehouse layout, personnel, inventory counts, and various procedures at MRC Global warehouse operations.
- Recommend changes to the branch manager concerning the layout of the warehouse, equipment on hand, and procedures concerning all areas of the warehouse operations.
- Provide warehouse personnel support as needed by assisting in the orienting, training, and evaluation of both new and old employees.
- Coach warehouse employees on safety operating practices. Support safety by example and provide training when necessary to warehouse personnel.
- Fill-in, as necessary, for Warehouse or Hub managers.
- Identify opportunities to “lean” or improve MRC Global warehouse.
- Support warehouse operations by assisting with and training new employees on shipping, receiving, put away and pipe yard processes.
- Implement MRC Global’s bin location system at new or acquired locations.
- Supervise and assist employees set up of pallet racking and bins for new warehouse set-ups and warehouse moves.
- Supervise and plan for set-up of new warehouse locations or warehouse relocations.
- Perform annual assessments.
- Assure proper maintenance and appearance of fleet and compliance with fleet safety and DOT regulations.
- Communicate and administer company policies to all employees throughout the branch.
- Maintain confidential information pertaining to supervisory duties, operations and contract information.
- Lead and direct physical inventories.
- Efficient in the use of all forklift equipment types.
- Assist in Handheld Scanner support and training.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
- Take reasonable care for the safety and health of yourself and others; report workplace hazards, injuries, or illness immediately.
- High school diploma or a GED (General Education Degree) or equivalent combination of education and work experience that provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
- Four (4) years’ experience working in a warehouse or closely related environment.
- Two (2) years supervisory experience or demonstrated capability to supervise (warehouse-related supervision preferred.
- Ability to operate and become certified on forklifts, order pickers, cranes, and other typical warehouse material handling equipment.
- Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of basic warehouse functions and procedures.
- Valid Driver’s license with the ability to meet the MRC vehicle policy and the ability to travel as needed to MRC branches and customer locations upon request.
- Demonstrated competence in the use of computers and software applications.
- Ability to travel to MRC branches and customer locations commonly staying away at two-week periods and occasionally longer stays.
- Working product knowledge of pipe, valves & fittings, oilfield and gas products.
- Frequent driving/traveling.
- Able to interact with others frequently.
- Most work is performed at a desk or in front of a computer.
- Able to sit/stand for long periods of time.
