Position Summary
The Vice President of Business Development will serve as a key member of the leadership team and will be responsible for directing all aspects of business development, sales, marketing, customer strategy, and experience initiatives across the organization. This role will oversee the full customer lifecycle — from acquisition to retention — and will be instrumental in driving top-line growth, enhancing customer engagement, and supporting long-term strategic planning.
In addition to commercial leadership, the Vice President of Business Development will oversee the management of customer master data and ensure the effective execution of customer creation and onboarding processes. This role will be central to optimizing customer retention, reducing churn, and aligning commercial functions with the company’s broader strategic objectives.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Commercial Strategy & Growth
•Develop and execute comprehensive business development strategies to drive revenue growth and market expansion.
•Lead regional sales teams, establish performance targets, and ensure accountability for results.
•Identify and evaluate new market opportunities, strategic partnerships, and potential acquisitions.
Sales & Marketing Leadership
•Oversee all sales and marketing operations, aligning initiatives with the company’s growth objectives.
•Drive go-to-market strategies, lead generation efforts, and customer segmentation.
•Monitor market dynamics, customer needs, and competitive activity to inform strategy and execution.
Customer Experience & Retention
•Champion a customer-centric approach across all touchpoints in the organization.
•Design and implement customer experience initiatives that increase satisfaction, loyalty, and Net Promoter Score (NPS).
•Develop and execute data-driven strategies to reduce churn and improve lifetime customer value.
Customer Data & Process Governance
•Oversee the integrity, consistency, and governance of customer master data across systems.
•Ensure robust processes for new customer creation and onboarding to support a seamless experience.
•Collaborate with internal stakeholders to drive continuous improvement in customer data quality and operational efficiency.
Strategic Leadership
•Partner with executive leadership to define long-term commercial and corporate strategy.
•Prepare and deliver business development reports and insights to the Senior Leadership Team.
•Lead cross-functional initiatives that align customer-facing functions with organizational priorities.
Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Strategy, or a related field; MBA or equivalent advanced degree strongly preferred.
•Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in sales, business development, or commercial operations, preferably in the energy, utilities, logistics, or industrial services sectors.
•Demonstrated success in building and scaling commercial teams and processes in a growth-oriented environment.
•Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
•Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
•Expertise in CRM systems, customer data governance, and customer lifecycle management best practices.
Travel and Hours
•This position requires work from our Irving, TX office Monday through Friday, subject to the needs of the business. This position will also have travel requirements of up to 60% which includes both regional, national, and international travel. This arrangement is subject to change at the Company’s discretion.
