Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Vac Truck Operator to join our field operations team. This role involves operating vacuum trucks to clean and maintain underground utility systems, including storm water and sewer lines. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to safety, attention to detail, and the ability to work in diverse outdoor environments.
Key Responsibilities:
•Operate vacuum trucks and equipment in accordance with safety standards and company protocols.
•Conduct video inspections of underground pipelines and document conditions using specialized software and equipment.
•Perform hydro-excavation and vacuuming tasks to remove debris, sludge, and other materials from sewer and storm water systems.
•Maintain accurate records of work completed, including inspection reports, daily logs, and maintenance checklists.
•Identify and report defects, blockages, or structural issues within pipelines.
•Coordinate with team members and supervisors to ensure timely and efficient completion of projects.
•Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of equipment to ensure it is in proper working condition.
•Adhere to traffic laws and local regulations while operating vehicles on public roads.
•Troubleshoot minor equipment malfunctions and perform basic maintenance.
Qualifications:
•Valid driver’s license with a Class A/B CDL or equivalent and clean driving record.
•Previous experience operating vacuum trucks preferred.
•Experience with new construction and large diameter pipe.
•Understanding of utility locating, confined space entry, and trench safety procedures.
•Ability to read and interpret utility maps and plans.
•Comfortable working in confined spaces and various weather conditions.
•Physically fit and able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform repetitive tasks.
•Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
•Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
•Confined Space Certification
•OSHA or local equivalent safety training
•Experience with GIS or asset management software
Working Conditions:
•Field-based work environment with exposure to outdoor elements.
•May require overtime, weekends, and on-call availability depending on project demands.
•Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required.
