Position Overview
CARIAN is seeking an Underground Construction Specialist to support the Underground Transmission Projects Group for one of our major utility clients in New Jersey. This position plays a critical role in overseeing field execution, ensuring the safe, high-quality, and on-time construction of complex underground transmission projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with 5+ years of utility construction or project experience, particularly those with strong field coordination skills and a background in transmission infrastructure.
Responsibilities
•Oversee and coordinate day-to-day construction activities for underground transmission projects
•Ensure work is performed in accordance with safety standards, design specifications, and regulatory requirements
•Lead and support field execution teams to maintain schedule and quality expectations
•Serve as the primary point of contact in the field for construction issues and resolution
•Monitor construction progress and report milestones, risks, and performance updates to internal and client stakeholders
•Support constructability reviews and field input during planning phases
Qualifications
•Minimum of 5 years of experience in utility engineering, construction, operations, or project management
•Strong field oversight experience in utility or infrastructure construction
•Proficient in Microsoft Excel and experienced with project documentation and reporting
•Effective leadership, communication, and coordination skills
•Preferred (not required): Familiarity with underground transmission systems including pipe-type cable (HPFF) and XLPE, and experience in civil or electrical construction
