Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Truck Driver to join our logistics team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely transporting freight to various destinations, ensuring timely deliveries, and maintaining the integrity of cargo. This role offers an opportunity to work with a professional team in a dynamic environment, utilizing a range of skills including commercial driving and heavy equipment operation.
- Operate commercial trucks to deliver freight across designated routes, adhering to all safety and traffic regulations
- Load and unload freight using forklifts and other heavy equipment as needed
- Inspect vehicles regularly to ensure proper functioning and perform basic automotive repairs when necessary
- Secure cargo properly to prevent damage during transit
- Maintain accurate delivery logs and documentation for each trip
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and warehouse personnel regarding delivery schedules and issues
- Conduct routine vehicle maintenance checks and report any mechanical problems promptly
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record
- Experience operating forklifts, heavy equipment, and handling freight logistics preferred
- Knowledge of automotive repair basics is a plus
- Prior experience in commercial driving or transportation roles is highly desirable
- Ability to operate heavy machinery safely and efficiently in various environments
- Strong understanding of safety protocols related to freight handling and vehicle operation
This position requires a dedicated professional with excellent driving skills, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to safety. Candidates should be prepared to handle physically demanding tasks and work in diverse conditions. Most of the driving is on highway 3 from Penticton to Vancouver and from Penticton to the Kootenays. Experience highway driving is a must. You have to be able and willing to put tire chains on and off multiple times. Do not apply if you are not willing to put chains on.
