The duties of the Truck Driver as determined by SunEnergy1 standards are to include, but are not limited to:
- Responsible for transporting cargo from one place to another using tractor-trailer trucks or other company owned vehicles as needed
- Operate trucks with a capacity of at least 26,001 pounds gross vehicle weight
- Deliver cargo while operating a tractor-trailer truck, sometimes over intercity routes, intrastate
- Load and unload cargo
- Keep truck, and associated equipment, clean and in good working order
- Report serious mechanical problems to the appropriate personnel
- Report to a dispatcher any incidents encountered on the road
- Monitor road conditions and watch for traffic congestion
- Plan routes using maps or satellite tracking; get cargo to site on time, safely
- Follow accident procedures if an accident occurs
- Follow all applicable traffic laws
- Perform pre-trip inspections and record any defects found
- Keep a daily log of activities
- Record amount and type of cargo being delivered
- Transport hazardous materials
- Valid CDL Class-A license required
- Minimum of 3 years of experience driving a Commercial Motor Vehicle
- Hazmat and Tanker endorsements preferred
- Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations
- Willing to submit to background/drug checks and provide employment recommendations
- No recent moving or driving violations
- Ability to drive long hours and travel regularly
- Ability to multi-task
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Must be able to relate to people
- Must have the ability to work individually or as a team
- Must be self-motivated
- Must be well organized and detail oriented
