Role Summary

The Utility Solar Technician III/Lead performs corrective, preventive, and emergency maintenance across solar and BESS facilities. This role requires strong technical expertise, safe work practices, troubleshooting ability, and leadership of technicians and contractors. (Not an installer position.)

Key Responsibilities

- Perform corrective, preventive, and emergency maintenance on solar and BESS equipment.

- Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues and maintain accurate service records.

- Lead or support work crews and junior technicians.

- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.

- Interact professionally with customers and represent MBS positively.

- Oversee contractors and internal teams on renewable energy projects.

Qualifications

- Experience with electrical systems, PV components, inverters, MV/HV systems, and schematics.

- Experience with Removal and Reinstalls, Inverter repairs, collecting and sorting large amounts of data, Panel swaps and retrofits, and repowering of sites, etc.

- Strong technical, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.

- Ability to work independently, lead teams, and collaborate across locations.

- Excellent communication, professionalism, and adherence to safety protocols.

- Competency with Microsoft Office, Salesforce, Go-Canvas, and technical documentation.

Education & Experience

- Minimum 2 years in power generation or utility-scale renewable O&M/EPC.

- OR 4+ years I&E, I&C, or C&I electrician experience (in lieu of solar).

- Associate degree or journeyman certification preferred.

- Experience with multiple inverter/tracker vendors preferred.

- Proven leadership in technical field environments.

Working Conditions

- Outdoor and plant environments; exposure to heights, temperature extremes, and energized equipment.

- Physical requirements include climbing, kneeling, and lifting up to 70 lbs.

- Use of PPE required.

- Overtime and non-standard hours may be necessary.
