Coordinates the route selection phase of transmission line projects. Assists in designing transmission and substation conceptual layouts and provides input to regulatory support. Coordinates small engineering team to perform transmission planning technical studies.
Working Conditions
General office and sedentary. May frequently be required to walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Occasionally required to stand. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision. Use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer and calculator. Manual dexterity, ability to lift up to 25 pounds, ability to reach, bend, and use 2-step stool while safely lifting and lowering boxes. Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions or other business-related events. May be required to work after hours to include weekends and holidays.
Essential Functions
•Coordinates and schedules all efforts in routing new transmission lines.
•Coordinates small engineering team to perform transmission planning technical studies.
•Administers the contracts and scopes of work for professional services in performing transmission line routing analysis.
•Specifies the design of outside services' deliverables related to transmission line routing.
•Cooperates and plans necessary filings with regulatory counsel.
•Manages the efforts of determining landowner information along potential routes. Generates and ensures delivery of landowner and newspaper notices of transmission line projects in compliance with PUC regulations.
•Verifies the accuracy of all information generated in support of transmission line route selections.
•Participates in project meetings throughout transmission project routing and construction processes.
•Negotiates routing related agreements with landowners and develops associated contracts and settlements.
•Cooperates with PUC staff regarding transmission line routing and CCN applications.
•Manages and coordinates the compilation of CCN applications, testimony, rebuttal testimony, affidavits and other PUC filings. Monitors the progress of transmission line projects at the PUC.
•Supports all efforts related to special commissioner hearings.
•Coordinates with engineering, environmental, land research and acquisition, surveying, and aerial mapping contractors on transmission line projects and schedules all efforts in routing new transmission lines.
•Cooperates with Land Agents in hand-off of transmission line projects once routing is established.
•Performs other duties, tasks and special projects as assigned.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
Experience
5+ years’ experience in electric utility work
License & Certification
Valid Texas Driver License
