Job Summary

The Coordinator job family is in place to assist Transmission Field Services (TFS) management and field personnel with the interpretation and development of safe work methods and procedures, the implementation of best practices, the development of improved work methods, improved work management systems, the utilization of technology, the development of streamlined documentation and reporting, the development of IT systems that will assist TFS, the identification of appropriate refresher training and new equipment training; and, assist with the facilitation of inter-region and inter-company information sharing meetings.


Job Description

What you'll do as a Coordinator Associate (additional responsibilities required for higher levels):

Provide 24/7 emergency response (when not out of office/vacation)
Work overtime as required.
Review work practices for consistency and recommend the integration of uniform work practices and work procedures across Transmission field services.
Create work packages for both planned and unplanned work, including scope of work, detailed cost estimate, work order, material list, structure drawings, plan and profile drawings, and other documents as required.
Review and understand technical drawings.
Provide budget forecasting to management.
Assist with area work plan development and administration.
Assist with the facilitation of inter-region and inter-company meetings to share ideas and develop uniform policies and procedures.
Investigate the use of new tools and equipment that can enhance productivity and improve existing work methods and recommend their implementation.
Assist with the development of refresher training and new equipment training with TFS personnel, asset management personnel, engineering personnel and new equipment manufacturers.
Continuously work to improve and streamline data collection systems.
Become familiar with and coordinate the development of TFS IT programs and work with asset management and IT to recommend enhancements to existing programs.
Travel extensively through the TFS locations to stay current with existing work practices and field issues.
Ensure that AEP policies, standards, and rules of the company and regulatory agencies are adhered to by those performing maintenance and/or construction activities.
Assist in the development, review, and present technical reports such as studies and analysis clearly, concisely, and effectively.
Review and develop maintenance or construction plans by establishing measurable goals and objectives based upon maintenance and construction requirements.
Work across TFS areas to commission, maintain and troubleshoot Transmission and Distribution equipment.
Develop knowledge to become a subject matter expert on Station, P&C, or Transmission Line issues.
Prepare detailed cost estimates for non-routine work, special projects, equipment maintenance projects or construction projects.
Apply and be proficient in the use of economic analysis techniques in problem solving.
Spend time in "field" as required.

What We're Looking For:

Minimum Requirements for SG 06 Associate level (External Candidates):

Associate’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, construction management or related technical field and 3 years of utility field experience which would include Transmission or Distribution Line, Station, P&C or Technical Support experience; or maintenance and/or construction work/project scheduling or project controls experience.
OR high school diploma or GED and 6 years of related utility field experience which would include Transmission or Distribution Line, Station, P&C or Technical Support experience; or maintenance and/or construction work/project scheduling or project controls experience.

Minimum Requirements for SG 07 Coordinator level (External Candidates):

Associate degree in engineering, engineering technology, construction management or related technical field and 3 years of utility field experience which would include Transmission or Distribution Line, Station, P&C or Technical Support experience; or maintenance and/or construction work/project scheduling or project controls experience.
OR high school diploma or GED and 5 years of related utility field experience which would include Transmission or Distribution Line, Station, P&C or Technical Support experience; or maintenance and/or construction work/project scheduling or project controls experience.


Qualification requirements for an internal candidate only:

Those candidates holding position titles within the Trans Field Svcs Coord job family: to be eligible a candidate must have an Associate's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management or related technical field and 1 year of utility field experience (or equivalent education and work experience combination); Or have a minimum of 2 years of satisfactory work experience as a Trans Field Svcs Coord Assoc and successfully demonstrated the knowledge and skills required of Trans Field Svcs Coord to be considered for a promotion.

For those candidates holding position titles that are not within the Trans Field Svcs Coord job family: To be eligible a candidate must meet the education requirement for external candidates and demonstrate equivalent knowledge and skills required of Trans Field Svcs Coord to be qualified for entry at this level, in addition to meeting the requirements below, if the position is within TFS Line or TFS Station Functional Groups.

Note: Groups outside of the TFS Line or Station functions may have different competencies.

Minimum Requirements for SG 08 Coordinator Sr. level (External Candidates):

Associate degree in engineering, engineering technology, construction management or related technical field and 6 years of utility field experience which would include Transmission or Distribution Line, Station, P&C or Technical Support experience; or maintenance and/or construction work/project scheduling or project controls experience.

OR high school diploma or GED and 10 years of related utility field experience which would include Transmission or Distribution Line, Station, P&C or Technical Support experience; or maintenance and/or construction work/project scheduling or project controls experience.


Qualification requirements for an internal candidate only:

Those candidates holding position titles within the Trans Field Svcs Coord job family: to be eligible a candidate, must have: 1) Associates degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management or related technical field and 3 years of utility field experience (or equivalent education and work experience combination); 2) have a minimum of 2 years of strong performance as a Trans Field Svcs Coord and successfully demonstrated the knowledge and skills required of Trans Field Svcs Coord Sr to be considered for a promotion.

For those candidates holding position titles that are not within the Trans Field Svcs Coord job family: To be eligible a candidate must meet the education requirement for external candidates and must demonstrate equivalent knowledge and skills required of Trans Field Svcs Coord Sr to be qualified for entry at this level in addition to meeting the requirements below, if the position is within TFS Line or TFS Station Functional Groups. Note: Groups outside of the TFS Line or Station functions may have different competencies.


Other requirements for all candidates:

Successful candidate must live within a 45-minute safe driving distance of the Delaware/Muncie, IN Service Center.
Successful candidate must be willing and available outside of normal working hours due to planned and/or unplanned work requirements such as outages.

SG 06 Associate role starting salary ranges typically span from $72,380-$90,474.

SG 07 Coordinator role starting salary ranges typically span from $85,081-$106,353.

SG 08 Coordinator Sr. role starting salary ranges typically span from $96,110-$124,940.
