About the Role:
DST Engineers is seeking a talented Transmission Engineer
to join our team remotely from anywhere in the United States. This role involves the design, analysis, and performance evaluation of high-voltage transmission systems that power the clean energy future.
You’ll work on complex grid projects, ensure regulatory compliance, and deliver safe, efficient solutions through advanced engineering analysis and collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Transmission System Engineering:
•Perform power flow, short-circuit, and voltage regulation studies
•Conduct grounding and shielding evaluations
•Analyze interference and system protection issues
•Prepare IFC-level design packages and equipment layouts
•Ensure compliance with NERC, FERC, IEEE, and local standards
Specialized Studies:
•Conduct inductive interference studies for infrastructure near transmission lines (pipelines, railroads, telecom, etc.)
•Recommend separation distances and mitigation measures
•Perform personal protective grounding assessments
•Analyze induced voltages and currents for safety compliance
Collaboration & Support:
•Coordinate with cross-functional teams, clients, utilities, and regulators
•Support construction teams with specs and field troubleshooting
•Assist in technical proposals, reporting, and project documentation
Tools & Software:
•PSS/E, PSCAD, SKM, ETAP, EMTP/ATP, AutoCAD
Qualifications:
Required:
•Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field)
•4+ years of experience in transmission system engineering
•Understanding of inductive interference and grounding safety
•Familiarity with utility standards and regulatory bodies (NERC, FERC, IEEE)
•Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred:
•Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering
•PE (Professional Engineer) license
•Experience working with utilities, regulators, or renewable energy projects
